Podcast with Phil Jones: Can HEOS Really Do All That?

Find out everything the HEOS app can do to simplify and manage a whole-home audio system with Denon and Marantz gear.

If you want music in every room without juggling multiple apps, this is your episode. HEOS is a multi-zone wireless music streaming solution that’s embedded into nearly piece of Denon and Marantz gear, including smart speakers, AVRs, soundbars, and components across the Harman Lifestyle (Sound United) portfolio. It’s become a serious multi-room, multi-zone streaming platform with hi-res audio, major music services, stereo pairing, and full Alexa/Google voice-assistant support.

Phil Jones of Harman Lifestyle joins us to lay out what HEOS can really do — including the tricks Sonos, BluOS, and WiiM would probably prefer you didn’t mention. Simple to run, surprisingly deep, and absolutely worth a fresh look. For more information:

Thanks, Mitch/Chris for having Phil on. Great Q&A.

I will add my own plug for HEOS and components/speakers. HEOS was a little bumpy trying it out a few years ago, but it’s now fully operational and works like a charm! No fuss, no BT…Phil explained it well.

I already have a Denon receiver and picked up the 250s, 350s + sub a few weeks ago for two other rooms and it’s superb. It’s seamless and passes the wife test with flying colors. The great thing about it is once you’ve set all your speakers/rooms up with the app, it all appears on the network and others in the house can play their music via the control panel (iPhone/iPad) directly w/o the app. You can do it from a PC as well or any other networked device. Also the you can do firmware updates directly in the app to all your HEOS components.

Looking forward to seeing future integrations in other HEOS components. Also, didn’t realize Samsung owns Harman and all the brands under it’s roof…and its a large roof!

    Thanks again guys.
