Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but I have read a lot of hype about how great HDMI is. I completely understand why it would be desirable for connecting a DVD player to a receiver using HDMI(less cables = less clutter, less money, etc.), but what I don't understand what the big deal is about whether the television/monitor has HDMI since 99% the audio is pumping out of the receiver and not the TV (at least for me).
So if one (like me) plays most audio out of the receiver, is there a major benefit to having an HDMI interface on the TV?
