I have connected my freeview set top box to an old VCR which is then connected to my old TV [which has no scart connector] via its aerial. The setup works great. I get all the channels listed and the reception and picture quality is first rate.
HOWEVER after 5 minutes viewing the VCR automatically turns itself off, thereby breaking the connection. Once I turn it on again it works fine â€" for another 5 minutes, then off it goes again.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
The VCR has no name badge on it â€" I picked it up at a car boot sale â€" all it says is SB105 Videoplus Video Cassette Recorder. And it didn't come with a remote. When playing a video it works absolutely fine â€" no cut outs, no power failures, no problems at all. This problem only seems to relate to the setup with the STB and the old TV.
