Index Delay-HL-55087W problem

I have a Samsung HLS-5087w

My issue: From the service menu (mute 182 power) I have adjusted the index delay and can't get it to save the settings. I have a color bar on my screen that wont go away. If I go to the menu options the settings are lost.
what am I doing wrong?
