I intend to purchase Onkyo HT-S650 and i'm looking for a DVD player. I am considering the ff (most prefered to less preferred): Kenwood DV-605, Panasonic CV51/CV52, Sony DVP-NC600/NC650, JVC 7-disc (forgot the model #), Philips DVD-793CH, Toshiba SD-2805. My TV is not HDTV so the progressive scan feature is not a priority at the moment. Could anyone please help me on this? thx in advance.

I just purchased the Sony DVP-NS500V and it does the job fine. Plus, it's a SACD player and you get 5 free DVD's from Sony with the purchase. For about $179, that's a great deal. I'm also getting the Onkyo system. Let me know how you like it and which player you end up with.

I love the Onkyo system. It seems to be the only system out there in the $500 price range that has beefy speakers. No tiny satellites here. My living room is now a full fledged movie theater and I love it. I hope you like it as much as I do.
