You can put whatever you want over your dish, but there will always be a bit of signal loss (from glass, plastic, etc). So having a bit of snow on your dish may not be any worse than what you lose from physically shielding your dish. also if you live further north where you get snow then your dish should be more vertically angled as opposed to facing the sky. IMHO, i would just leave the dish alone.

Dish is galvanized you dont have to do that
