Intelsat's G-15 Satellite Experiences Anomaly; Service Uninterupted

Intelsat's Galaxy 15 satellite (G-15), located at 133 degrees West, experienced an anomaly on April 5, the operator announced April 8.

"There has been no immediate service interruption to customers, and based on current technical information, no service interruption is expected for the media customers on this satellite," the company said in a statement.

Intelsat will transition G-15's media traffic o Intelsat's Galaxy 12 satellite, which is the designated in-orbit spare for the North American region. Galaxy 12 is currently relocating to the 133 degrees West.

Intelsat and Orbital Sciences Corp., the manufacturer of G-15, are conducting a technical investigation with respect to the anomaly. The satellite was designed to be operational through 2022.
