| Hi, I am in the process of re-locating from Australia to the USA. I have many DVD's for both Region 1 (NTSC) and Region 4 (PAL). I want to know if it is possible to buy a DVD player that can read region 4 in the US. This is pretty standard in Australia - you pay a small amount extra for a multi-region player. I can't find much information about these features for use in the USA. I am assuming that I might need a Plasma display to handle PAL in the US. Any comments / info would be appreciated. |

Anonymous | There are a lot of DVD players on the market with PAL/NTSC conversion you can easily convert to region free just with the remote control. Samples: Philips DVD724, Memorex MVD2028, Cyber Home CH-DVD500 (all with progressive scan). Visit http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdhacks.php to find more of them. I have the Memorex MVD2028, the hack works, and I do not have any problems to play PAL region 2 discs on my standard NTSC TV. |
