Multiple warning were given that it is only a beta and to expect problems. The sellers were not particularly promoting the boxes. I see no reason for complaints. People just have to wait for a new release and more information. |

Nothing you can do about it they said. They also said they will be back stronger and more stable. Given they missed Xmas selling season and no one will buy without proving KBox is very stable for a few months, I do not think beta was to sell more boxes short term, although this may be the ultimate objective. Even SonySat that was up for the longest time goes up and down like a toilet seat so we may see the green smiley faces up again even on this beta version I suspect... but I dunno... guessing. Given they said they will be back stronger, I am curious to see how long the final release will be up. If it is up longer than most, they will sell more boxes than most... good incentive to keep working on the immortal fix on steroids, no? ah... so many cats, so few recipes.... heh heh... why you laugh?! |

The cost of writing BINs (N2 times) was higher than writing the little software for hubs or dongles. The bigger cost is in the servers. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the coming change in Networking - "Cloud computing" and "Virtualization". Smaller Clouds will spring up, and they will also be piggybacking on the bigger Clouds and nobody including the owners of the Clouds will know where the information is coming from!. Therefore, I think that by the end of the year, a lot of people will be signing into some IKS Cloud paying something like $3-$10 per month, and use their old receivers. C00LSAT enthusiasts just paved the way. Note that service from Clouds and Virtualization servers is metered not on a monthly basis and not even on a physical connect time, but on the actual activity time. What I notice is that the IKS services have a typical load of less than a GB per month on your Internet connections, and payment for 1 GB actual usage froma Virtualisation server will be peanuts - so there will be profit for the bigger Clouds and for the small Cloud operator. |
