zindabaad (zinda aabaad) - comes originally from Farsi and is now adopted into Urdu and Hindi. Many Hindi speaking people use the word as jhindabad, because the "z" sound is a special import from the Moghuls and did not exist properly. I have never come accross it as jindabaad. In Some Sanskrit based languages, the "z" equivalent "jh" is written with a little dot (Bindi) to denote the "z" sound. There are a lot of Muslims in China, but I don't know if they would have a name DWOOD (?D. Wood or Dawood)
There are two different letter one for "j" and the other is pronounced "jh". The actual "z" sound of Farsi, Urdu is there in modern Devnagari script as the "jh" sound character with a dot or "bindi" underneath to denote urdu type of sound. Another interesting thing about the word "zinda" which literally means alive. In former times the victorious one was also the only one who lived - the other one died! Root zinda also spawned jeeta Main zinda hun. Jeete raho. Main jeet gaya. Voh jeete hain (He is alive) Voh jeete (he won)
