Right, but still there are a few of us who wonder why things happen and how they happen. Which brings us to last Thursday's "Blackout"... Was it an ECM? Was it a servers security and/or capacity update? Was it a raid on IKS FTA main players? NagraStar's Anti-Piracy Task Force is composed of two basic divisions : One being the Legal branch ( lawsuits, takeovers, information gathering, intimidation propaganda, etc. ) and the other one, which we're interested in, the Operational Unit. O.U. is basically working on two fronts: a.- Signal securement and b.- (signal) Distribution and providers. Up to now, against IKS technology, their signal securement efforts have been fruitless. So what we suffered last Thursday was the result of a successful sabotage on preselected IKS provider's servers. It would be too tedious trying to explain the technical aspects on how it was done, but I'll try to do it using the following analogy: Let us suppose that the Server we connect to is a big water tank . And that we use a water hose to bring the water from this big tank. What Nagra's O.U. did was connect a "water pump" to this big tank, disrupting and overloading the flow for the rest of us. Most (not all) servers we're affected in very different ways. Some of them, with good extra capacity and security, rapidly recovered. Some were not even affected at all. Others (Nfusion) being the largest busiest one (and main target) suffered a severe crash. So the story basically remains the same. But for the moment the Mother of all Battles will be "NagraStar vs The IKS Servers". We have no problem with this? Of course we do. Warfare costs Big Money and for how long will IKS providers endure those tremendous costs? In order to survive, IKS service will eventually be charged. You can take this to the Bank (literally). But this is another story, For now we are safe and happy. |

Whenever one decides to get into risky, "not totally legal" activities, one also knows he will have to live up to its dangers and be ready to roll the punches. IKS service providers are doing exactly that. They expected vicious devastating attacks and are now taking the necessary countermeasures. As I posted earlier, this struggle is far from over; in fact, it's just getting started. People in the know had anticipated IKS's Achilles heel ( weakness ) was the Security of their Servers. So remember that when a blow doesn't bend you, it will only make you stronger. And this is what we will be expecting from our IKS providers : a "beef up" of their security measures and strategies. For now, all of our "opponents" technological efforts are concentrated against the big guy ( i.e. Nfusion's servers ). So we, as individual users, have still nothing to fear. As long as IKS providers are having the upper hand in this "chess match", our personal data is safe and secured. You will be hearing rumors galore and a plenty dose of blabber amuck. But just remember that much is at stake and interests with obscure agendas are on the lose. For simpleminded people like us, best virtue to practice will be Patience. ("All good things come to he who waits")  |

I've personally seen it work on CNX Nano and Kbox, but I would also trust info given by some respectable testers of other reliable sites. BTW. What they're basically saying is the following : Being the largest IKS brand with over 200,00 units in use, Nfusion became the main target of Thursday's attack. Nfusion had to disconnect their servers because the attack's objective was to hack their server's main data bank ( where authorization routines to keep clients connected are located) Nfusion has a new program ready since a couple of days ago but hasn't released it yet because they have news of an upcoming new attack. This new attack is expected between Dec.10th - 17th. So Nfusion is evaluating whether releasing the provisional program they already have, or wait it out 'til after Dec.17th so they'll have a more durable and definitive program. ( Food for thought or Rubbish? ) |

Except channel 125 on 61.5, there is nothing showing on 91, 118 and 119. Channels get scanned and the numbers show up, but no picture. Its "Home-site" (Mili's place) has not given a reasonable explanation on what is going on and has no idea when the service will be restored.. This is somewhat worrisome, since Slinger and slinger Clones use private servers which charge clients a periodical fee. So now the question arises: If even private paid IKS servers are so vulnerable to attacks, then what out there will make us feel our bet was safe? |

Providers and Channels suddenly may go Up or may come Down, Freezing comes and goes and things seem like a roller coaster ride.
