I have broadband Internet only.
In two rooms I receive around 60 to 70 cable channels
on two old 19" TVs, but in the family room on my Samsung 47" ProjectionTV/HDTV
I can only pick up the locals a total of 13.

I have tried all suggestions from Satellite TV
with no luck. The cable channels have ESPN
I been trying to get it on my big screen TV for Monday night Football.

last month I posted on the Video/Audio side.
didn't get a single answer they all must be honest
or didn't know.So here Iam trying again.

Gray

On some installations the Cable Provider put a filter to block the Cable TV signal, that was debated on this forum. If you don't pay for cable, this filter is installed, that can be the reason why you don't get those channels.

This filter block TV signal and the internet is the only thing that you can get.

He is talking about getting HD channels legally and he is not getting it !!!!

This is why his best solution is to give a call to his cable company.

Is he missing a proprietary cable box converter for HD ?

Find a VCR with a tuner similar to the tuners in the 19" TV's. then use the VCR tuner to out put the signal to your Samsung using the RCA RWY in/outs.

Whiskey the dumb is you!

Videotron is the Cable cie, they use a filter to blocked Tv signal, with this filter Internet can work fine.

I have Cable Internet from Oricom which use Videotron tunnel.

I have a family member which work for Videotron and is technician former.

It's not because you don't know it that it's not used.

His New HD Tv can have a protection to blocked the channels, he can try to use analogique tuner to get the channels, sometime the new TV like RCA does have 2 RF input, one for Analogique tuner and one for Digital tuner, he can check if the cable is hooked on good one,
If not he can found the way to use the analogique tuner, if he have one, the Rico solution can work also with a old VCR.

Gray Ghost call and ask your cable company if you need something special from them to receive the same ESPN you already receive on your old TV's onto your new High Definition TV !!!! Don't forget to ask how much that will cost you.

That is all there is to do for now ! Everyone else stop confusing him with other solutions.

Gray Ghost call them and report to us.

Oh yes and could you please list your city and cable provider for everyone else's to help you !

I am not sure Plymouth.

He never replies or comment on anything.

Although the title of the thread is Hacking Cable TV it seems all he wants is to get his HDTV working on his existing cable.

He has to confirm !!!!!

He is able to get 70 channels free with an analog receiver. He just needs a VCR that can get 200+ channels then he is all set to get the same channels he is getting on the old tvs.
Nothing magic about it

Rico yes but then why did he buy a 47 inch HDTV then ? To watch the same low definition garbage ??

I sure hope he is looking for High Definition ! And your VCR used as a tuner won't provide that.

He is better off with rabbit ears. At least, he will get his local HD stations !

Gray Ghost is it just simply possible that in your new Samsung TV you have not selected CABLE yet ?

Look in your menus. One of them should identify your RF input behind the TV and has to be defined in the menus as CABLE or ANTENNA

He is probably waiting for a N3 fix. Its the egg before the chicken.
$3k 47" Samsung TV could pay for 5 years of basic cable.

You are saying you receive Cable channels
on your old TVs but not on your large HD TV.

1) Look behind you TV you will see two 2
Terminals Upload

#ANT 1 IN (AIR) connect VHF/UHF Antenna
or Satellite receiver.
#ANT 2 IN (Cable)

2) Install a coaxial cable RG 6/U from
Terminal #ANT 2 IN to your incoming
Cable Amplifier.
Upload

3) With your TV remote stroll to channel
pull up cable Exit open a cool Beer watch
ESPN

btw The Outer Limits you are right.
