DirecTV Sues Michigan Man For Redistributing Content
Saturday, 05 September 2009 09:17 | Author: News Admin |
DirecTV Group Inc. said Thursday it is suing a Michigan man and has asked a court to stop him from redistributing its programming.

DirecTV filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan. The complaint alleges John Metzler, the owner and operator of Phoenix Communications and Pine River Cable, set up fraudulent accounts in three Michigan communities and resold and rebroadcast DirecTV programming to his commercial and residential subscribers.

Currently, those customers Metzler allegedly sold content to who attempt to tune into ESPN or CNN have been provided on-screen information about how to obtain legitimate programming services.

El Segundo-based DirecTV stated it could be entitled to as much a $100,000 for each violation.

DirecTV did not mention Metzler's process for getting and redistributing its content.
