Why would SSH tunnels not work?

I have been reading the various post regarding using IKS type receviers and revealing your IP address.

I did not come across anyone talking about using SSH tunnels. SSH tunnels encrypt all data going from your IP to the SSH server, out to the internet site, back to the server and then back to your IP computer.

The only visible trace is your origainl IP address hooking into the SSH tunnel server. From that point on, all activities are virtually impossible to trace without the user themselves giving away their true idenity. They cannot tell if you are getting packets from a IKS server or packets from Santa Clause.

Would Kbox work with an SSH tunnel? Or do they require a known IP address in order to hook into them? What about other receviers?
