Nova eeprom modification.
First off many thanks to jvvh for all his help identifying the eeprom contents.

This is all based on an eeprom dump shared with jvvh a while back.

Using the original bin modifications jvvh devised for the 151 bin and applying them to the latest 151.3 you can connect to the "suns" charlie server.

Successfully changing the motherboard serial eeprom values to yield a solaris mac address is required.

You must dump the onboard serial eeprom marked A21SC near the front and middle of the nova motherboard. This is an 8 pin surface mount chip.

Don't ask how to dump the chip because that information can be learned elsewhere. Search for xbox chip mods. Also ponyprog.

Removal is an option but there are on board methods. Use what method suits your skill level.

In a hex editor find the location of "0x72 6 bytes" and you will see something simialar to this "7C 03 BF 37 FF FF" which is the Mac data address.

The last two bytes were purposely changed to "FF" in this example.

Increase the value of your fourth byte to yeild the desired results. Try 4A through 4F as a starting point.

Using a packet sniffer or pinging the nova box on a network can show the results of your changes.

Your are shooting for a 4th byte of "09" in the mac.

Example: nova= 00-16-03-06-00-00

Example: solaris= 00-16-03-09-00-00

You can go one step further to generate your own unique random mac by playing with the 5th byte also.

Please no PM's. All the information you need is right here.

This does work.

Unless they shut it down after seeing this post. (LOL)
