Best DVD Player under $300

If someone could help me out. I am about to buy my first DVD Player. I have a 55inch Big Screen TV and would like to get a great DVD Player. I have been shopping around for about a month but have been getting mixed reviews. Which DVD player under $300, would you recommend?

I would recommend the Pioneer 563. It is a universal player[dvd,cd,sacd, dvdaudio]and can be had retail for $179 at Best Buy etc. Typical good Pioneer dvd picture and sound quality. If you areinterested in something more expensive but not outrageous I would recommend the Elite dv-45a. Great player for around $450 retail and under $400 mail order. I have the 45a and love it.

If you can pay the price for the DV45a I would highly recommend it. I have one and it's great. I had a Pioneer 525 which was a very good player but when the 45a came out and I could get it for $449 retail I jumped. Beautiful picture and excellent audio in dvd,cd and both sacd and dvd-audio. It has a great remote also. IMO it might be the best thing for the money Pioneer/Elite has ever made.

Where can one get a Pioneer 45a for $449? I thought it was more than that.

I just bought the 563-a dvd. set everything up and finally got it to work. After watching a movie I went back to the onscreen menu to set everything the way i like it. Got into the tv settings and entered something wrong and the screen went to blue. Can't even get the onscreen menu to come up.Checked the video button. Sound works no picture. What the hell did I do wrong? Is there a default of some kind?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Anonymous, unplugg your player for a few days might cause player to go back to defauts
Second take cover off look for a reset jumper or switch on the ciritry or manybe youll get lucky and there will be a battery (if so take if out for a while then put it back in)
And if all else fails call you vendor

RE: Blue Screen

You may want to do a "reset" on the DVD. Check the manual. I think you need to press the STOP button while power on ...or something like that. It states in the manual. I happened to "play" around with Progressive Scan Settings.
