It has been talked about since E3 2006; the Xbox 360 working as a set-top box for on-demand, real-time streaming digital television. Well, the next step has been initiated for Microsoft to one-up their competitors and it involves a deal with the UK's Sky TV.

According to Electronic Theatre, new market research data has been put forth to survey consumers about the indirect possibility of using a set-top box service via the Xbox 360 . The survey was conducted by one of the partners involved with the new set-top box service that Microsoft very briefly unveiled during this year's E3 event.

For those of you who don't remember, the new set-top box service will be available first to UK and Ireland residents and it will air through the Sky TV service.

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't like North American users as much as its PAL consumers, which is why they will be receiving the Sky TV set-top operation as soon as this autumn. According to Electronic Theatre, 'Details of the full channel line-up will be revealed closer to launch, but it is anticipated that Xbox LIVE ! users will be able to access blockbuster movies, entertainment shows, documentaries, kids TV, music and the arts, as well as Premier League football, Test Match cricket and a wide variety of other sports through Sky Sports.' You lucky buggers.

We'll keep you posted on when the service is expected to go live here in the US. Be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for further news, info, updates and media.

There ARE movies everywhere. You did not read the following words:

"LIVE ! users will be able to access blockbuster movies, entertainment shows, documentaries, kids TV, music and the arts, as well as Premier League football, Test Match cricket and a wide variety of other sports through Sky Sports."

It is already there in Northe America.

Veriso, owned by an Indian in California, is probably the company that supplies Jadoo hardware. There is a separate thread here at Ecoustics. Jadoo is concentrating on the growing Indo-Pakistni-Bengali market.

Look up Veriso and you will find that there is a lot of streaming video supplied - English and Spanish channels. It is a growing market and sky (or your Internet speed) is the limit. Microsoft decided not to enter the USA market yet.

Doreen, I went to the site you suggested, phazeddl, but it cut me off after 72 minutes. It said to wait 54 minutes or register and pay for a couple of months to continue to watch uninterrupted. But it never came back on for me after I waited. If you click on it again, it starts the whole movie all over again. Am I doing something wrong? How do I continue watching it after the wait time?

max: Most of the InternetTV is not free eventually. Either it slows down to a halt or you pay.
The basic channels offerred by vunow and also on many internet TV providers remain OK, but if you want to view content, there is a price and if you want live content than there is slightly bigger price.
