Hi All,
maybe someone can advise me as to the best method to solve my problem....
here is my situation;
I have a tech scheduled for the weekend.... so, I'd like to be prepared. I have:
1 -20"dish on the roof(setup to pull in 110&119), currently, 2 separate cables from the dish, down the side of the building(this will obviously attract attention). Is there a way to combine the 2 signals into 1 cable without causing a conflict? how?
thanx in advance.

If you place your Diseq switch closer to the dishes then one cable will come down direct to your STB, If you have dual LNBs and two receiver still you have to place the 2 switches Closer to the Dish and take 2 cables to your STB

What are you worried about attracting attention? Tell the tech to mind his own business.
You only need 1 cable from your dish. Anyone with any brains would run a spare cable during the install in case the 1st cable becomes damaged.
It is more common to have 2 cables running up the building than just 1.

@ Rico;
tech is a friend who does "grey-market" installs, no probs there.... landlord is curious as to why 2 cables running from roof to condo. so, I want to reduce the cable count.... and if possible lock it as sub's techs are on the roof on a regular basis... I am not too concerned with being caught as there are at least 15 other"testers" in the complex.

@ Bazuka;
I like your idea.

@joeturn;
I like the multi-switch idea too.... the smack, really is useless.

.... any ideas how I can lock all this up?
thanx

You have one receiver now and need one cable down.
1. As Basuka says, put a DisEqC close to the Dish and then you can have one cable coming down.
2. If you are in a house, instead of getting the cable(s) down the side of the building, you can drill into the side and get the wires into either the attic if there is one or at the ceiling level if there is no attic. The rest of the wire(s) will be inside the house.

If you are using 2 LNB there is enough room in the yoke to place your Diseq switch. It is tight but it can be done. If you are using a DP LNB then you only need one cable to the LNB from the receiver.

It is just my opinion that having 2 cables from your dish is very common and you should not worry about it.

Just about any DiSEqC switch will work if you protect them from the weather and make sure your receiver is turned off when you make the connection.

@Rico.... Thanx for the great idea.

yes, common. but I am the only one in the complex with two ugly cables leading to my condo. previously, I had a sub... so, I want to reduce the cables to 1 and use the sub's entry point. clean, neat, and no questions.

Cool. Sadoun is a good company but you could buy 3 switches off Ebay for that price.

Chumley is correct. Move the switch to the dish and remove 1 cable. If you want to clean it up.

Joeturn stop pretending that you know ALL the answers. Whenever someone has a different opinion you want to argue. It brings your post count up fast but makes you look like a fool. A $4 dollar switch will do the job.

Good point chumley. I do not think Adirondack knows what LNb is on the roof. I am sure he only needs the one cable. But the second is already there. Save it as a spare or maybe use it to add another receiver in the future.
