Open the tool menu and choose the port 1
zrinit is a port problem, unhook the receiver then do a hard reboot on your computer and retry.

The next painful question: Is your Viewsat plugged in an outlet ? Have you tested the outlet with a portable lamp or hair dryer to make sure it is powered ?

Sure Ali that would be the next thing to do. Unplug the unit, open the cover, smell the main unit and power supply boards and look for a smelly area. If an electrolytic capacitor blew up, it will be smelly around the capacitor and most likely a dark greasy deposit will be seen around it. Replace the capacitor first (if that is the case) and look for a blown or cracked voltage regulator (is it really a TIP42 in there ?).

But I would also look for a more evident component like a fuse soldered on the board. The capacitor got shorted, and that blew up the unit fuse way before any voltage regulator had any time to blow up.

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for that power supply to share ?

Oh.... Ali. What was it you were doing with the unit just the minute before it blew up ?

I am clueless. It should not be dead after 2 years....

Disconnect power cord. Open top cover and smell the board. See if suspicious smell in there.

We are out of luck then. Next steps would require a schematic to test for voltages being present or missing.

I see you are discussing replacement on other threads.

Your box can be good and lose the software, sometime you can't see any light and the receiver is good.

Work on VS Ultra, try it:

Dowmload the loader for VS Pro and try to force your bin with this one, but you must be sure that the receiver is able to communicate with the receiver, if you have another computer try it and be sure that you doesn't have the error message "bad zrinit".

2 Vs Ultra give no display but still good, I recovered it with this solution.

First try to load the file with another computer and be sure that you can load the file without the message "bad zrinit".

If you have again this message your box can be blow.
