Another Successful Launch for Telesat Canadian fixed satellite services operator Telesat last week announced the successful launch of its Telstar 11N satellite from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan. The bird will be located at 37.5 degrees West and support a wide range of video and data applications in North America, Europe, Africa and in the Atlantic Ocean via ita 39 Ku-band transponders. According to Telesat, Telstar 11N will be the first satellite to provide Ku-band coverage of the Atlantic Ocean from the Arctic Circle to the equator, and will help it expand its coverage in underserved parts of Africa.The Telstar 11N satellite was manufactured by Space Systems/Loral and was launched on a Zenit-3SLB rocket operated by Sea Launch and Space International Services. The satellite has an expected 15-year mission life.
