Dan,
this is exactly what is happening with my Sony KDS-R50XBR1 rear projection TV. Apparently it has to do with the optical block malfunctioning. See past posts related to Sony sets for more info.

Jamie,
thanks for responding. My Tv is a Mitsubishi. And i was wrong on my error code. The error code is acually 12. Which means there is no error. Go figure Huh?I still have sound while the green light blinks untill the TV acyually powers off.But I can turn it ,back on after it sits a bit. I read the others about the lamp. Is that the optical block or something different??

Dan,
I had the same question and apparently the optical block is separate from the actual lamp. I wil post more info after the service looks at my set tomorrow.

OB is a sony problem as far as I know. Not Mitsu.
It sounds like a heat issue with the lamp on that Mitsu.

What is the lamp?Is it a bulb?Doesnt the mitsu tvs have three bulbs? Is it easy to replace myself?I hope it is just the lamp over heating if it is easy to change. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks

sorry that was for the sony guy mainly.. the lamp would apply to a DLP set.
yours I believe is a CRT set, and most likely it's a defective circuit board in the set that will require a repair tech with access to Mitsu parts.
Sears can handle it if you need. They are auth'ed for Mits repairs.

CRT. three guns, red/green/blue.
a conventional non-LCD, non-DLP projection TV.
It's what you have.
