According to this link:
http://www.nfusion.ca/coolsat_internet_dongle.php

Yo can upgrade yor Koolsat or Captain to Internet
I would like to exchange any info about this topic with people who got their hands on this topic

It looks like this dongle kit to upgrade Captain FTA recivers
It looks like 9-pin RS232 to ethernet
Upload

Also this looks like this dongle to upgrade Koolsat FTA receivers
with USB to ethernet
Upload

I have some questions directed to anyone got their hands on this kind of dongle

- Dongle with RS232, does it work on any other FTA receiver with RS232, I think yo it does but not sure?

- Dongle with USB, ddoes it work on any other FTA reciver with USB like VSUltra etc.
Again I think it should

I also think if yo got a selection in your menu that says upgrade software it should dial to Server via ethernet

With link above
I think only nfusion has Dongle Kit to all receivers like Koolsat, Kbox, Capatin

Another question for any Koolsat owner
If yo bought the dongle upgrade
- Does it actually work on Koolsat?

Thanx,
King

Once again King Fakeman you prove what little electronics's background you have...

Of course it would work with any stb with a rs-232 port...

rs-232 is what you call a STANDARD!!!

The only problem is the firmware....

I could explain how and why...

Yet seeing you couldn't even follow along with your viewsat Owners Manual on how to flash a bin/channel list there is a snow ball chance in hell you could follow along if I did...

Poor fakeman is lost again..

https://www.ecoustics.com/cgi-bin/bbs/show.pl?tpc=2&post=1605453#POST1605453

Dongle IV200 v.1.54d.0 20080429

Dongle IV200 v.1.54d.0 20080429
Install dongle file and do a factory reset in the on screen menu.
Power off unit.
Hook up dongle.
Power back on.

"What about your visionsat and dongle - "

Yor good man
I like that
This man pays attention
Quality member

Thank yo for yor response
But what I wanna know will any internet dongle work?
Like this dongle connection
Upload

- Will any other hardware dongle work?

I got the dongle file IV200 v.1.54d.0 20080429
I haven't tried it yet
I don't have a hardware dongle
- Can a regular bluetooth dongle work?
Visionsat has a great feature it has a system restore so yo can go back to previously stored settings if I want to switch to IKS or vice versa

- But I also wanted to know if VU-sat can work using a dongle?
Probably not
In VS menu there is selection where it says software update

So far from what I see devices capable of IKS
- Capatain
- Visionsat
- Koolsat
- Kbox
- Nfusion

According to this K-hub
Called powerline Network Bridge
http://www.xtek.ca/Powerline-Ethernet-Bridge-85Mbps-One-Pair_p_31-181.html
It should work for:
- Neosat
- Capatain
- K-box
- Koolsat
- Nfusion

Upload

KEY FEATURES:
Allows shared Internet access via home power outlets
56-Bit DES Encryption network ensures privacy & security
Transfers data at speeds up to 85 mbps, faster than 802.11b wireless
Doesn't increase your electricity bill
Requires no new wiring or cabling to install
Compatible with wired/wireless routers & modem routers

It doesn't say if it will work for other devices

does the powerline networking bridge work with kewlsat 4k, 5k or 6k? I looked at their website but did not see specific models listed. I could have missed that part.

king i think the powerline adapter u are talking about is different than dongle,
i use powerline ethernet adapter ,
basically i have two powerline adapter one goes with router, and the other one to my k1 plus and the other end in outlet ,
it also works with any desktop computer
that u have in ur bedroom and u don't wanna see wires everywhere, u just plug the adapter in to outlet and u have around same level/speed of internet as u have the one that is plugged with modem

but i still use khub (dongle),..
or is this different,
b.w i only found nfusion to have stable iks all the time,
k1plus never did
same with all co*lsat models
+ neosat,
any one who had caption pls tell us how stable the iks is..

King , the c0olsat dongles are either null or straight thru - so if the visionsat updates with straight thru cable , the straight thru dongle would work.

www.sahntech.com/coolsat1.html

Thats my guess

Thanx Tooter for the info
Straight thru or null I'm gonna make my own cable
It's only one pin difference simple pin reverse
Trial and error is what I always do

Null cable has 3 pins
5 to 5 (which is common cround) it never changes
2 to 3 (Tx to RX)
3 to 2 (Rx to TX)

Straight cable is 2 to 2 and 3 to 3
Piece a cake

Sada yes yor right
The bridge is to avoid ethernet wiring
I have some questions for yo regarding yor nfusion
- Do yo need dish for yor dongle or does it work like IPTV
(this is how yo can tell: disconnect sat cable while receiver is off then turn on receiver)
If it works without then it's IPTV
i.e. yo don't need dish connection
- How often do yo lose yor IKS?
- How often do yo have to load dongle files?
- Do yo get D#N on nfusion?

nope it doesn't work if u take off sat cable,
with nfusion iks is about 98-100% stable,
as long as your internet is up, u will be watching channels,
as u turno of modem/u loose internet connection, u won't be able to see any channels,
true fta channels works without iks,so its no difference than other fta rec other than using iks.
that was for nfusion
loading the files are simple
after f2atv was down, they are just putting the bin in the server, means when u turn off ur rec from back and turn it on, it will say new version is available so u can download it by press ok button,
some time when server is really busy u can just use ur laptop, type in ip adreess (that is on ur nf rec) , download the bin and hit the upload button and u will be downloading in secs.
3rd one is old method (note nf nova/sd/) are not built with usb,

on kbox its different story
k1plus have both option of standalone bin or iks
standalone like other fta rec
the reason why i don't use iks with k1plus is its not stable , u will see blackscreen/channel freeze, etc with iks
so when other rec's are down atleast u can use iks with freezing/etc
with dongle i don't have to download any files if i want to , i will still see channels working (if u take out freezing/squeezing) issues]
d#n do u mean dn, if u do yes i get both dn and bev channels with nfusion

so basically this
nfusion has stable iks/ no standalone
k1plus has standalone/ freezing problem with iks

nfusion is built in ethernet port
i think that can be the main reason they have less problem then compare to k1plus

Thank yo Sada
- How often do yo have to load dongle files?
- Do yo need dish for yor dongle or does it work like IPTV?

IPTV means yor watching TV via internet which requires no dish
I have a friend from Italy
He's got a device called SYSmaster IPTV
He pays $25 a month 30 channels
But he makes unlimited phone calls
It also has Camera/phone
It's called Tornado M10
Upload

IPTV streaming with no dish

this would be cool device ,
i am moving to u.s so thinking about something like this,

"How often do yo have to load dongle files?
- Do yo need dish for yor dongle or does it work like IPTV? "

i download file after ecm when new file is around via usb for my k1 plus and use it as standalone (option avialalbe on my k1plus at configration),
when there is ecm i simply switch to iks,
no need to download file.
but b.c of freezing issues with k1 plus i use standalone, when there is no ecm and iks when there is ecm

yes same thing with dongle, i need dish in order to make it work

both k1plus and nfusion rec needs dish to make them work.
no iptv option available on both rec

with nfusion its like once a month
i barely remember when dish was down and i had to download a new file,
most of their files are improvement
for example last bin was added b.c it had more bev channels.
downloading bin's on nfusion is really low compare to other brand,
think like this way bin's are created when ur rec is down,
if ur rec is already up, no needs for new bin,
