Yesturday morning my power went out and since its been back on I can't get my hard drive to connect to my Receiver anymore.

Before today I have had some problems getting it to connect. Sometimes I would have to hard boot the receiver or the hard drive, then it would connect. It might have taken a couple trys to connect but it always did eventually.

This is what I have tried so far...

Hard Booted receiver
Hard Booted Hard drive
Changed from back usb to front, then to back.
Tried the hard drive in the front usb, doesnt connect.
Tried a thumbdrive in front. It lights up, and it connects.
Tried the thumbdrive in back. It lights up, doesnt connect.
Tried the thumbdrive in front again. It lights up, Doesnt connect.
Factory reset. Hard drive still doesnt work. Thumbdrive still cant get connected again.
Tried the hard drive in PC. Connects just fine.
Tried thumbdrive in PC. Connects just fine.
Tried another thumbdrive (the Sandisk) I noticed when it's plugged in, it lights up then flickers once then the light turns off. It does not connect.

Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.

Ummm... it doesnt even see the hard drive so I couldnt format it even if I wanted to. :-(
It doesnt see my thumbdrives either.

I've got alot of movies and shows on there so I dont want to format it unless I know that will fix it for sure. Is there any way to back the hard drive up so the files can be put back on the hd? Windows wont see the files.

Sometime you can use the software include with the hard drive or go on hard drive site for help.

Lost of power when the hard drive write on disk is not a good thing.

No, it wasnt writing at the time.. It was just sitting idle. The hard drive is still ok though. It works on my PC.

There must be something wrong with the Viewsat. Anyone else have a problem like this before? Could there be something wrong with the usb ports... or maybe its a bin problem?

Sorry
go on [link removed]

Do a factory default then load the new Factory bin and load the new Satellite info from Viewsatusa, do settings on all satellites and blind scan it then load the latest bin file.
That restore your receiver totally.

Now it must work.

I'll try that.
I need to find my Serial cable for it first. Can't remember where I put it. I didnt think I would ever need it.

How do I use the serial cable anyways?
My usb doesnt work at all so I can't use a thumbdrive...

You are not able to load it with USB keys?

You can tried to load it with a 512Mbits USB key or download this Loader:

Power off with switch on back panel and power on and send the file after you see the display light.

What one is the "new Satellite info" for the pro? Do I choose ultra, or PVR only?

No USB key will work for me. I've tried 3 different USB Keys and one of them was brand new and had never been used. Nothing will connect to the front or the back.

So right now its like I have a viewsat platinum lite. No PVR and no USB support! :-(

This is the good one for your box

But load this factory bin with loader before, then do a hard reboot then reload factory bin again and try your USB port.
