hi,

new person to the forum here...

I have read some posts about using Dish 500 for 118.7 to get international channels.

Many of you have posted like Nalin, Plymouth, King Tapeman and Cartier.

1. I understand I need to use a Circular Dual LNB for both 119 and 118.7. (like here. http://www.mxmart.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=126 ) Correct? Please advise of any success someone has had with a different make/model?

2. I am at near zipcode 74501. Can someone tell me will I get 118 on my Dish 500 dish??

3. Can someone advise of anything else I will need. I have a DISH 311 Satellite Receiver.

3. Or will it be easier to get a repoint kit? If so, please advise of a model and make, please.

thank you for your help...

Buy a Captiveworks 700S or a Viewsat Ultra and hook it on your LNB cable.

Thank you Plymouth.

Can you please provide me with a little bit more info? how would this help me get the 118.7 international channels?

How exactly do these Captiveworks 700S or a Viewsat Ultra work?

Sorry, Mr. Plymouth,

I think I maybe was clear..

I have a Dish 500. The link you provided for the LNB states:

Requires: 30-inch or larger dish

Also... the reason I asked how the Captiveworks 700S or a Viewsat Ultra work.. is so I know what I am getting into before I go out and do some buying...

I think most people wouldn't go out and buy a Mercedes or a Lamborghini without knowing how much maintenance it required.

Thanks in advance for your help. :-)

Sorry i'm come back.

For get 118.7 you needed a dish 30" and + , but if you live in West coast, it can work with your dish 500 on few Tp.

I prefer Viewsat Ultra because more reliable on Free To Air.

I you want know where take files, you can found it without login on many sites like

For Viewsat
ftahq.com
dsstester .com
dish-keys.blogspot .com
thetotalfta.com

For Captiveworks
dsstester .com
dish-keys.blogspot .com

Those 2 receiver brand give the best support and stay up where many are down.

hi,

Thanks for all the responses.

Sorry.. I am just looking for a simple solution to hopefully use my Dish 500 with my 311 receiver.. and I hope to just change the LNB to get 118.7W or another cost effective solution. Sorry guys, times are a bit tough at the moment.

Can someone please advise if that is possible? or suggest another solution which is the most cost effective?

A lot of people come looking for a cheap solution using their "500 Dish".
You NEED a 500+ Dish which is about 5" wider.
If you use a generic 33" Dish and a non-DN 118/119 LNB, the combination (good for two receivers) is only $60 or $70 if you get a dual 110 LNB as well. Two weather proof DisEqC switches will cost you $13. This LNB is not compatible with DP34 or DP44 switches.

Similar solution is available using Digiwave products

I am not here to argue....

Thanks :-)

It is difficult to understand, what exactly you want.
You want use your dish 500 and your Dishnet 311 receiver, and we give you a answer that you can't.

A receiver and a new dish and LNB cost only 200$
