A friend is having a DTV dish installed tomorrow - it is a sub. He has a DTV Dish and LNB. Amateur's installation.
They have (almost exclusive) interest in sports - mostly football and hockey. Question is simple - What DTV sat should they point to in Rochester?
And what angle, elevation, etc.
Your help much appreciated.

It depends on what dish and how many DTV LNBs

Rochester is upstate NY
I use this site:
http://satcalculator.freehostia.com

Tell him to put zip code
and all satellites he got
It will give exact skew, elev, azmith
pin point accurate

Give me a moment I will look in Lyngsat

I will rephrase.
The Dish LNB is not an issue. They have that. They are "subbing" from a subscription of a relative in New Jersey. Again, I have been specifically told to ignore these issues.

My question simply is - What DTV SAT they should aim for for their main interest - football and hockey.
If necessary they will get another DTV LNB if they don't have the right one.

I am very ignorant about North Americal sports, hence the question. Also cricket, boxing and other sport is not in their agenda - as far as they are concerned no other sport exists.

Now thats a REAL stupid question!...ever hear of dishpointer.com or any satellite calculator finder?...ROTFLMAO..it works on ALL satellites, which you would know if ya ever tried using one or even opened one up out of curiosity..

and any idiot knows that the correct satellite/s will be determined by which DTV dish (single, phase 2, phase 3, slimline etc) he is installing, and which DTV sub package he is using..and all TRUE DSS hobbyists knows which DTV satellite is their main satellite with their core channels, and which DTV satellites are used for locals and HD..

BTW...have you ever heard of LYNGSAT?....it applies to all satellites and providers....LMAO

nalin...your ignorance shines brighter everyday!....LMAO

anybody who reads your posts and then asks you questions needs their head examined!..You are truely the blind leading the blind..

You are NOT a tester or a reader, or have any knowledge of DSS, except what you can copy/paste from the few FTA sites that you monitor for Dishnet..

justforhaha's: The question is specifically for the three individuals in the header.
Why do you have to come in with your idiotic answers, when you very well know that I am not interested in your answers or comments.

It depends on the type of package
If it's SD most likely 101 with regular LNB
If it's HD
It has to be 99 or 103 with Ka LNB

These are the main DTV sports package:
101 SD
99 HD or 103 HD

Regular LNB won't work on Ka and vise versa
And if it's Ka ususally 3 LNB/ 5 sat

Anytime bro
Between yo and me
That's not an easy question to answer
And the alignment is very hard without bird dog sat finder

Try to find at least what channel line up or channel #
Look up in Lyngsat package on all DTV sats:
Select SID or ch No. hyper link
http://www.lyngsat*.com/packages/america.html

Africanbrit: Having been closely associated with doctors, I have learnt from them that you refrain from treating your close relatives, friends.
Hence I felt that I should ask others in the forum, what to do - the main question is what DTV sat (available in Rochester) gives the best sports - their interest is only football and hockey.
Once I tell them that, they will install the right Dish and LNB, and if the main subscription in New Jersey is not right they will make it right.
The urgency is because there is a relative dropping by for the weekend in Rochester. He is handy with the tools and ladder, I am told. They have contact with people with all kinds of used DTV equipment with access to it on a Sunday.

I just have to tell them to get XYZ DTV Dish and ABC DTV LNB, and my involvement is finished and I am out of the picture.
I just have to tell the new Jersey part of their family to arrange for Package no. nnn for Rochester and it will be done.

Africanbrit and King and Plymouth:
Just want to say thanks and report that the Installation in Rochester wet very well.
They go a second hand proper DTV Dish with three LNB mounted. Apparently this LNB combo has 4 outputs and they got a 4 to 8 multiplexer - all of this for $50!!
The system is working and the sub costs only $5/month. They usually buy the NFL package for the season and everything is OK from their point of view.

nalin.. you have lied completely throughout this entire thread..and are a 100% satellite user fake!

NJ sub is no different than Rochester sub, except for locals and spotbeams...just like DN

No way they got a 4x8 multiswitch for $50, nevermind with a triple LNB dish

Rochester has no different sports than NJ, except for local spotbeams.

You should have known where to find dishpointing info.. from all the free satellite calculator finders

You should have known where to get satellite info for DTV or any satellite or provider..from lyngsat..or DBS talk

If your buds don't know which way to aim the dish they sure as hell can't align a phase 3 LNB DTV dish and cable it to a 4x8 multiswitch and receivers in 1 day.

Lastly, there is NO way anybody can share or have a DTV sub for ONLY $5 , and also get the NFL ticket..

Nalin...I am calling you a LIAR throughout this entire thread...and have absolutely NO knowlege of Satellite TV, no matter if its DTV, Dishnet , or Bev!...You have clearly shown that here to all just by this thread alone!

So just why are you here, since its obvious not to share any DSS knowledge?..DN mole comes to mind again as always rumored and thought by many here..

justforhaha's: They got he used Dish, 3 DTV LNBs mounted and a Multiplexer 4 to 8 for $50. I am sure about this because the person who installed it is a close relative and went and bought these.
As to $5 per sub, I was and am still skeptical. The information I have from the elderly people who will be using the setup in Rochester is that their ..... will be paying only $5 extra per month. The fact is that their relative in new jersey always subscribes to the "package" for "the Season". When this elderley couple lived in new Jersey, they did not have to ask or worry. Now they are in rochester and probably going to stay there till Jan/Feb and will get their TV.
I really have no desire to investigate or inquire further, nor do I want to get into an argument with you.
GOOD BYE
