On a 5 disk dvd player and I power it on and get a disk read error, what could be the problem and how much do you think it would cost around? If you could give me the worst case senerio and the best case senerio price wise?
Have a emerson dual dvd/vcr dvd player won't playback and when it does on some the video is jumpy and never plays good. Have had the set for about 4months. Any help would be appreciated
Sounds like the spindle motor, the motor that drives spins the disc. Take off the cover and see if the disc spins, if not give it a little turn by hand, if it starts spinning it is the spindle motor. DVDs spin very fast and the vibration from unbalanced discs gets dust from the magnets on the motor brushes causing problems. They can be replaced but unless you have worked on electronics before I wouldn't suggest trying it.
