Spaghetti vs Satelite/TV/VCR/DVD hook ups

I could use a little help.

I have a Direct TV receiver, a Phillips/Magnavox TV, and a new Magnavox DV225MG9 DVD/VCR. I followed the instructions very carefully but I cannot get these electronic marvels to work together.
Forget the www.funai-corp.com website...they couldn't even find the model number.
How do I hook these up so they work together?
