My Sony KDS-R70XBR2 works fine (new 03/07), except when connected to Blu-Ray player at 1080P output thru HDMI connection. Then, usually strong red blobs or heavy highlights appear all over the picture. Problem goes away at any lower resolution output. Happens with Sony and Samsung 2nd generation blu-ray players. Did not start right away when I added the blu-ray. Rather, it seemed to take time to develop. But now it always appears. Changing picture settings on the tv does not affect the problem. Changing HDMI cables does not affect it. Nor does changing among any of the 3 HDMI ports to the tv.
Same tv also has a compatibility problem with Dish HD satellite receiver, but I can get around this by turning off the DRC. Then the 1080I signal from the receiver is fine. If I turn on the DRC, the picture has silver highlights or blobs swimming through it.
Hopefully, someone can give me a tip. Local Sony repair people do not know what to do. Sony service seems not to have any reported like cases.
