A friend of mine called me for help Installing basic Galxy-25 on 97W After so many attempts just couldn't get a signal level
At first I told him to try few things Still no luck He described few things which didn't make any sense His receiver is unflashed but he swears he got ESPN And no matter what he does no 97 level
Anyway I agreed to go over and check it myself I assured him I get the signal in 5 minutes and walk away Instead I spent over 2 hours on top the roof changing receivers LNBs etc.
Finally after few adjustments we got a Q signal no more than 54% This really bothered me a lot So I drove by his House and I found a long tower flashing red 1/2 mile away No doubt it's communication tower at exact same pointing of 97W and his house hidden from behind the trees
2 things got my attention: 1- This is the first time I learn a communication tower can have an effect on satellite signal 2- Why would these channels be wide open on 99W
One part of the problem he was pointing to 99W when he got ESPN Idea*Cast CNN Airport Network PowerVu+ 1160 1120 E MSNBC PowerVu+ 1260 1220 E CNBC US PowerVu+ 1360 1320 E ESPN US PowerVu+ 1460 1420 E ESPN 2 PowerVu+ 1560 1520 E ESPNews PowerVu+ 1660 1620 E
I saw it myself saying ESPN, ESPN Central, ESPN Chicago and ESPN News
Anyone got any information to share about PowerVu+ ? I don't have a large dish or motor to check on Galaxy 16 at 99.0°W TP 12189 V s/r 11765-5/6
Is it really open Or was it just some weird tower interference!!!

2 test channels work fine without encryption(test card)
But yo confirmed what I was looking for Thank yo One of these days I'll get myself a motorized dish but it will be a C-band/Ku I'm just witing to see what best size dish for what I'm looking for
Anyway The ESPN and CNN even they were encrypted by PowerVu+ on 99W I think somehow by coinstance it was in clear PowerVu, Seca and Irdeto much easier than Nagra I see on some sites entering simple keys
King Galaxy 16 @ 99.o*W has been as you say for a long time. There is no Tower Interference. I get the same thing and there is no towers near where I live.
2 different things - What I was saying about the communication tower is it made the signal difficult to get on 97W
- Somehow he was pointing to 99W and got ESPN is another thing
- What we are debating here is an encrypted program using PowerVu+ be in clear
I have had many people in the HD section saying they got digital cable straight to their TV tuner (I haven't seen that happen to me) but many people described the same and I know they can't be crazy If they say some HD channels on cable came in clear maybe cuz it is
Cable TV also uses PowerVu+ So despite it shows $ meaning encryped Somehow it's in clear An operator's mistake
What Plymouth suggesting it is clear cuz it's decrypted I say it's just coinstance Maybe it's a promo But it's a service for airport We may never know It just interesting how it happened that's all
I never meant the tower made it clear It's just a joke like been sarcastic about the tower
But I do strongly believe now a communcation tower can make signal weaker That I didn't know And to make that conclusion I may have to try it again
