expect to get a new mpeg 4 receiver to replace standard mpeg 2 receivers this is to keep up to date with the latest programming that dn has to offer, all subscribers will be switched to these receivers by sept. 2008 but they said you don't have to continue subscribing to hdtv we are only expected to pay $5.98 a month access fee,
but this came after charlie said to the share holders that the first quarter was bad due to piracy and fraud also they gave up on the new card venture i guess and decided to go with a chip based card in an mpeg4 receiver they also said nagravision is not their first choice so they are looking into a different software based card for card devlopment this went out to the stock holders on april 30 2008.

There finally using some good judgement, unfortunately for us!

The idea that they would give Nagravision another penny was just outragously dumb.

Oh no you mean King Fakeman was wrong AGAIN

Whoa something is wrong King FAKEMAN knows everything he's a Master Electronic Wizard with 25 years experiance.

He's the one that developed the Technique of Degaussing Eproms

I clearly recall a message being posted
by King Fakeman where he reported he had found some secret analog signals using a digital LNB and a Viewsat.I was a little lost how he could be using the above combo in like that of a spectrum analyzer but after all he is KING Fakeman and has been know to achive greatest above and beyond that of us mere mortals

I can recall in the message King Fakeman
posted about Nagra 3 being in the stream now and it was just a matter of time and 'PTA' would be no more. In the message he even made reference to the time and date of his post as like that would validated the truthness of his findings...

Hey Punjavi

We have to cut Pulp a little slack, due to the fact that he has a steel plate in his head from a fall installing a sat dish.

So he is a little irratible at times.

Seems his mother was helping him tune in the signal, Pulp on the roof, ma on the deck below, a little more to the left son, just a tad more. Only problem was Pulp ran out of roof and the rest is history.

"but this came after charlie said to the share holders that the first quarter was bad due to piracy and fraud"

Coders you loser Diknet showed a 65% profit and beat all earnings estimates for 1st quarter 2008even though new subscribers were down 88%. Everything else you said is also complete BULLSH!T. Here's a c/p of an article, they are planning to have only 100 HD channels in 100 markets this year.

DENVER (AP) - Dish Network's chief executive said Tuesday he has crafted a plan for fixing what's wrong at the company that includes efforts to boost high-definition satellite TV offerings and being more responsive to customers.

CEO Charlie Ergen acknowledged during a conference call with analysts that rival DirecTV Group Inc. and telephone companies had garnered the lion's share of new customers in the first quarter. Dish Network Corp., meanwhile, lagged because a satellite failure stalled its high-definition channel expansion.

"We got a very small percentage of the business (the last two quarters) ... so we're not operating as well as we should have," Ergen said.

The strategies Ergen outlined for the nation's second-largest satellite television provider come as the industry -- cable, satellite TV and telephone companies -- prepares to switch to digital, high-definition channel format.

Ergen made the comments a day after Dish Network said first-quarter net income rose 65 percent while net new subscriber growth fell 88.7 percent.

Analysts believe Dish Network's future performance likely will hinge on adding high-definition service, not only the national channels but those in the local markets.

Cowen & Co. analyst Thomas Watts said in a research note the slowing economy didn't affect Dish Network's competitors, which posted solid first-quarter subscriber growth.

He speculated consumers favor bundled packages of Internet, TV and phone offerings and high-definition channels over Dish Network's lower-priced service.

"We believe weak (subscriber) performance will continue until Dish's HD offering can match (DirecTV)," Watts said.

Ergen told analysts he became more involved in day-to-day operations in February after recognizing operations were like a car with "wobbly wheels," slipping in customer service, installations and communications.

"I was very involved strategically but not involved operationally so that's certainly the biggest mistake," he said. "I think we probably missed the HD (high-def) window last year."

The company, he said, is on track to offer 100 high-def channels in 100 markets this year.

For the quarter that ended March 31, Dish Network's subscribers totaled 13.8 million, up 3 percent from the end of March 2007. However, the net total of new subscribers was 35,000, down from the 310,000 net new subscribers a year ago.

Last week, DirecTV, the No. 1 satellite TV provider, said it added 275,000 net U.S. subscribers and ended the first quarter with 17.1 million customers, an increase of 5.2 percent.

Dish Network was spun off in January from EchoStar Communications Corp., which retained equipment operations and fixed satellite services. Both companies are based in suburban Englewood and controlled by Ergen.

Dish Network's stock closed up $1.11 at $31.56 a share in Tuesday trading.
