I've recently got a USB cable so that I could load files to my 2700 from a laptop I just bought. Is it just my cable or does it take almost 30 minutes to transfer the file. I even changed the speed to 115200 but no difference.

This is an interesting thread:
Just for comparison purposes, my FLU/2700 conversion, takes I guess about 2 mins using the good old RS232 COM port. I didn't realize the USB to serial adapters were so slow, there must be one heck of a protocol overhead in those things.

htiek: A whole generation has grown up using C+ and forgotten Assembler. You just saw the result very vividly.

For those brought up to use C+ and a bit afraid of Assembly language, I recommend they look at
RadASM 2.2.0.5b

Yes, PCs are several orders of magnitude more powerful that when they first came out, but for the most part that power has gone into supporting the operating system's inefficent code.
The USB interface has been around for over 10 years now and is maturing nicely, but I guess we pay for all that flexibility in terms of speed.
