hi guys i have a dish currently pointing to 119w . if i want to add another lnb for 110w , my question is do i put them on the right or left or the current lnb (assumming i'm look in the front of the dish.
do I have to adjust the dish or just the lnb for 110w ..??
If already pointed to 119 Facing front of dish Put 110 on left of 119 facing front 110 on left 119 on right
You must skew dish to get both sats Looking at back of dish Unskrew for skew East cost rotate clockwise West cost rotate counter clockwise Skew dish plate always looking at back of dish http://satcalculator.freehostia.com
But let me make it clear to everyone Yo wanna teach a newbie yo must teach'm correct
Follow my rule of thumb: Rule#1 - When yo add new LNBs yo add from front of dish not from the back - When yo skew dish yo skew from back not from front
Therefore when yo advice someone to add LNBs yo must tell him where to add in front of dish and when yo tell him to skew yo skew dish plate from back
Rule#2 High order Sat# always on right (HOS) Low order Sat# always on left (LOS) i.e. ( L )110 and 119 ( R ) If yo got a bounch of sats: 105/110/118/119/129 Looking in front of dish from left to right: 105/110/118/119/129 (LOS on left HOS on right)
Stick to King's rule of thumb and yo won't confuse no one
Is like if I ask yo where is your left ear? If yo use right hand to point to left ear is like getting right answer with wrong hand
Can yo place LNB and move LNB itself instead of dish? Yes but a lot of trial and error
- First if on East cost yo must have 110 lower than 119 - If on east cost and place 110 without lowering yo won't pickup 110
-If on west cost yo must slightly raise 110 above 119
- If midwest (I'll say about even hight)
Also make sure yo use a sat finder or at least turn beep option ON receiver if got one Avoid using DISEqC switch until yo get sat 110 yo can use a coax coupler until yo lock and scan sat 110
So would yo put the sharpie marker line on the right or the left? This is like "pin the lnb on the donkie". Yo cant get it right even without the blindfold! The situation is hopeless but not too serious!
"Yo cant get it right even without the blindfold" Oh yeah...is that right? If I say yo could get it must be cuz I know yo can without moving the dish Kayoss It's a reflection angle Basic elementry physics
I told him how to find the angle without moving the dish it's up to the user to choose the technique from both options
Ken, please go to www.dishpointer.com and enter your address and 119 it will give you exact direction from your house to pint to at the bottom it will give you exact skew and elevation,no guesswork involved and if you are standing in front of the dish 119 goes to your right
LK, very good picture, i have a question for you if someone has a small single lnb dish with NO skew adjustment is it possible to get 91 and 82 ? right now getting 91 or adjust dish and get 82 thanks
SUCH A SIMPLE aNSWER GOT MESSED UP. thks LK i was trying to find poor man's Dish post for him
African I do have same setup for both bev's. looking from front i got 82 on proper struture, on its right about inch down and front is 91 just hanging on single rubber strap, with good Q
These FTA receivers are amazing lil toys. Using a dtv dish and an extra lnb can get you the DN 110 & 119, and/or 82-91 Bev sats (any sats 9 degrees apart) and consequently 800 FREE DN channels. I have done this myself and it's so easy, I can't believe they make dish's with skew adjustments. I literally use rubber bands or hair ties to strap an lnb to the existing lnb and get 2 birds very quickly. I will be attaching photos and it's just as easy as it looks. Standing behind your dtv dish thats already pointed at 101, simply turn it to the right a little and drop the elevation about 10%. This is where the 110 sat is. You can use your dtv receiver to find the 110 by going into dish pointing menu and selecting one of these transponders 8, 10 or 12. When you find the 110 you will hear the signal meter rise and you can then fine tune it. Attach an extra lnb to the right (facing the dish) by using rubber bands or hair ties or wire ties, about 2 1/2 " above the other existing lnb (see photo) Attach the cable from it to the dtv receiver and in dish pointing change the transponder to one of these 23, 25, 29 and you'll probably aready have some signal, slide it up or down, keeping it flush with the other. Once she's dialed in epoxy or super glue to the original lnb. This is soo easy! When done you now have a single existing dtv dish that will pull many DN channels or all Bev channels, for your NEW FTA receiver!
Hint: I also use wire tie or string around the lnb horns to draw them together and focus on center=better quality.
When you face the Dish and the backs of the LNBs are seen by you, the lowest longitude value is on the left and the highest is on the right. LEFT TO RIGHT - LOW TO HIGH - AS YOU LOOK AT THE DISH'S REFLECTIVE SURFACE.
Yo have to have yo house pointed in the right direction. If yo can see the satellites with yo naked eye, 119 will be the one on yo right. It is simple physics!
"Yo have to have yo house pointed in the right direction" Great question Cuz his first sat is already pointed to exat satellite location the second is relatively few inches away
But physics has simple laws And I do understand it and apply it correctly
