Someone that has seen more than one HD box tell me if there is a difference in picture quality between boxes. I would think that with HDMI its all the same. Are the channels crystal clear like blue ray and other HD feeds?

Any idea what the price range will be for the SV 360 HD? I'm thinking of buying a SV8000, wondering should I buy it now or wait. If the SV360HD comes out soon, I would think the price on the SV8000 will come down a bit...any inputs? thanks.

All HD receivers in the market today are nothing but garbage
It's not the processor that makes the difference
Entire Module that takes a 1080i broadcast and convert to a progressive scan

All of these FTA HD receivers are at least 3 years behind in technology

Get a regular SD receiver connect to a blu-ray player
It will upscale it to a better quality signal than these garbage receivers

These FTA HD receivers are nothing but a tuner capable of reciving 1080i broadcast
These are the real rip off boxes

Wait a little
I expect a major improvements in HD boxes
Trust me
Look for receivers that say resolution of 1880x1080 or at least 1440x1080
None of them say it cuz they ain't

Instead they'll say Video output resolution: 480p , 576p,720p,1080i
Not the same thing

This is not a signal processing folks
This is an upscale enhancement

I'll show yo how to compare yourself
If yo have a 1080i TV or 1080p TV
- Connect a regular outdoor antenna to your TV coaxial
- Scan HD channels yo'll get local HD
- Compare same channel quality to Your HD receiver
- Come back and ask me why they ain't the same

If yo have a 720p TV yo won't see a major improvements
Maybe good enough for a better quality than regular TV
But not a true HD standard quality

Any one bought an HD FTA receiver is simply got DUPED

local scan of over the air TV comes in at mpeg2 1080i
sv 8000 hd gets mpeg4 1080i from dn

so whats your point ? need a beter job to afford a HD reciever do you King?

Everyhing is 1080i broadcast
There is no 1080p broadcast
If Your TV is 1080p
That's an upscale

MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 is just the encoding process
Encoding process is never going to improve original broadcast quality

My point is
Compare for yourself to see quality difference first hand
If yo have a question
I'll be happy to answer it
If yo don't believe me get a second opinion
But best judjment is when yo compare it yourself

Bruce

You are totally off base SV360HD has dual tuners which are - ATSC and QPSK. No 8PSK tuner for you to get DN

King.

2 Tuners : ATSC Tuner(Sharp,NIM Type) & QPSK (Samsung, NIM Type)

King Tapeman Post Number: 2105

What's saving DTV's Azz is they don't use MPEG-2
They use a non-industry standard called QPSK
FTA receivers can receive all MPEG-2 encoding signals
QPSK and MPEG-2 are not compatible at all
Can't be converted without additional hardware

For Regulard definition
DTV QPSK is not compatible with MPEG-2 QPSK

QPSK (Quad Phase Shift Keying)
is a phase modulation algorithm.
4 possible forms of phase shift modulation

45°
135°
225°
315°
Signal is sent within one of 4 phase formations
Symbol rate selection is 1 to 8 but two bits
This is where MPEG-2 comes from
1&2 FEC is 1/2
2&3 FEC is 2/3
3&4 FEC is 3/4
4&5 FEC is 4/5
5&6 FEC is 5/6
6&7 FEC is 6/7
7&8 FEC is 7/8

DTV QPSK is similar to MPEG-2 QPSK but by far not compatible like PC and Mac both use Ascii code but entirely different hardware. Today Apples has Power Mac that can run PC and Mac. There is no big deal.

Also like HDDVD and blu-ray
They are both blue beam and HD DVD

But one called blu-ray other is HDDVD
They are not compatible

Today's new standards for HD MPEG-4
Is 8PSK for broadcast
Blu-ray for DVD media
Blu-ray just recently became Ultimate HDDVD standard

The decoder is not that hard to build
If the hardware is compatible and there is hack then yo be able get Dave however is it truely compatible or not I won't know!!!
