We have been told our vcrs are too old to record off Direct TV signal. Have configured several ways with coaxial and rca hook-up. Have one tv with HD and appropriate receivers for all tv's.All vcrs will play, none will record. All are probably 5-6 yrs old. Is there a vcr that will record with Direct TV? Trying NOT to purchase any more technology or services at this time. Had service guys out and trouble shot with Direct TV. Any help is appreciated. CJ

if you use the rca (y/r/w) cable to connect the out of receiver and in of the vcr, aux or line in setting on vcr should work, but the vcr has no control of the dtv box for channel selecting nor power on, you can program to turn on the vcr and let dtv box on 24/7 but what ever channel you have left on the receiver will be the vcr to record.
