FTA_TESTER, If I wanted to use a unviveral remote and program the sonicview to work with the remote, I would need to enter a 3 digit code to program the remote to recognize the device (sonicview receiver)
I have never seen a universal that would do all we neeed to do with our receivers...guide, menu so often, the great great F1,F2,F3,F4 buttons I would be lost without...
what all do you need to control all the time when using the fta receiver?
I have my receivers remote controlling the tv and dvd-vcr we have here and in the bedroom second receiver you might try it that way

That 3 digit code is different for each universal remote so if I knew the remotes manufacture and model # I might be able to find the instructions for you
