my friend has a receiver right now it is silver it has noooo name...doesint have a manual or anything...the person he got it from is no longewr here...but that person loaded like a whole bunch of documents onto my friends laptop about how to convert from 2500 to 2700....BUT i dont even know if this is 2500....it does not look nothing like pansat 2500...and on my friends laptop he also has a Chancy lightning files .or whtever...what my question is that how do i know which model this is and if it is pansat 2500 clone how do i convert this? i killed my own 2500 while converting...i dont wanna mess up his...so can u please help me solve this problem.....i would really appreciate it thanks..

I would say you and your buddy their should go get a viewsat plat light for $130 shipped on ebay and then you will have a nice receiver that you can update in a matter of seconds not after fighting it for hours like now..
oh so u want me to visit that site because u are basiclly jealous of this site..because many people come here to solve problems and no i am not angry at this site or somehting...i am angry becuz i dont know which receiver that is....
yes i agree with u on the part when u said 90% of the people that get the help they need find it by going to another site...welll that is true but when the people that are more experienced with fta are around here they help alot when they are not here there are newbies and they cant help with junk...so yeah
You have a clone simple as that. If it looks like a pansat guess what its a pansat clone. Does it power on? if so get it on a tv, hit menu, someware in their it will tell you the info of the receiver with the BIN file NAME...use that information to determin what the clone is....then go see if a update is avalable.....NO CLONE BIN's are out just yet so prob not..

if the system information has a chancy file in it does that mean i do not have to convert? can i just wait and load the new bin?...if it has a x87bl in it what do i do then?...it looks nothing like pansat only the remote does little bit

take the cover off and look in side to see what it has for a processor... check to see if it's a sti5518 then look for a manufacture date on the pcb between them 2 can figure out if it's a 2500 clone

w/o a bunch of history we recently changed servers and the attachments havent been transfred yet.
im sorry i mispoke. there are sevral of these types of posts but w/o the attchments it dosnt do any good i will try to get these usefull files back up to date.
satgirl, you know very well how tough it is to help someone who does not know what kind of equipment they have.i suggest you chat with us once you are at your friends place so we all know what the equipment is
you know i was going to check the site out but if the sys admin acts like a baby and cuts ppl off the ill just stick to here and dsstester/dssrookie when i can get in. I never seen a person act like it was the end of the world to visit their site.
