First, let me say I'm just starting out with FTA. I need to know what I'm doing wrong trying to unzip a bin. I can't for the life of me figure this out. I did it last week with no problem. This time it's not working for me.

I downloaded a bin using winrah. x-87BL_071116_B75_222_api.bin.
Then I hit extract to Documents.

The unzipped file shows up.
Message- You are attempting to open a file of type 'Bin File'(Bin)

I used the GTRom Loader V27.02

Then I try to load the bin I get a message- Unknown File Type.

Can someone guide me through the process? Sure could use the help.

In your file folders preferences do you have the option show all file extension selected under windows explore.

Because it sounds like you are just making a file selection error.

chuck carroll, I think you're using the standard loader, use the b75 loader since you're loading a b75 bin. Everything will be just fine after that.

He stated he's using the 27.02 loader which is correct now for the 2700 and b75 files..this is more of a lack of puter knowledge than a FTA issue.......just when U select the bin, in that window also under it select "all files"...and U only "DOWNLOAD" the .bin from the loader to the receiver... U do not extract (unzip) it again...U just unzip it from the .zip file, save the .bin from it somewhere on your puter....then open up the 27.02 and click on BIN FILE, select your bin from somewhere U saved it in your computer..now hit DOWNLOAD while cable is connected to receiver..

1. Connect RS 232 Null Modem (#2,3 crossed) cable between the receiver and PC.
2. Turn the receiver power ON.
3 Open the GTRom Loader V27.02 (Pansat 2700A).
4. Click BIN FILE and select the Bin File to be downloaded.
5. Select FILE TYPE and click Download.
6. Do not interrupt the receiver power while downloading.
7. Press OK after Download Complete!! appears on the PC screen.

How do I find th b75 loader?
#4 is the problem.
I removed winrah and downloaded winzip. Same thing occured.
I tried the GTRom Loader v3.37 but that didn't help either.

I have to go to work now, be back later.

Thanks-}

U stated in the first post U used GT Rom 27.02...so U MUST already have it...just follow those simple directions..

BTW...loader 27.02 is software, not hardware

here's the 27.02 loader again...
