Hey all, I have a 32" lcd tv with a built in HDTV tuner. Basically, I refuse to spend the extra $30 a month for a couple of HD stations, and a handfull of extra channels that I do not even want. Just for ha ha's I found a cheap ($5) HDTV antenna at Big Lots when I was there. Basically it works for one station. It lists all of the other station's that I can get, but I do not get good enough reception with it to get the other 6 stations. But, im pretty impressed with the one station that comes in. Must admit.

Anywho, can someone recommend me a good indoor HDTV antenna?

I saw these two at Walmart today :

Now, im a little green on this subject also, so if anyone has some information that would be useful and helpful, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks a bunch!

Also, im basically looking for NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS. Those are the only HD stations that im currently interested in for now.

I know theres a website out there somewhere that lets you figure out what kind of antenna you need, but I do not have a clue as to what any of the specs on it mean.

My zip code is 01030. Thanks a bunch!

Also, just to inform you of what happened today when I went down to Comcast today.

---- -----

When I went down there today they explained it all to me. Currently I pay $45 for regular cable. I get all local stations plus stuff like usa mtv history ect, pretty much channels 2-67. That alone I believe is overpriced.

They then stated that I would need to upgrade to digital cable, rent a digital cable box, sign up for HD programs, and I would need to sign up for a station package plan. I asked them how much that would cost and they said $76 a month. I was baffled. I explain my tv has a built in hd receiver in it, so theres no need for a set top box to receive it. I just need the signal sent! They then said that it was not possible without the box. I said ok, but I don't want that extra plan thats going to give me a bunch of station's I dont want, and dont want to watch. Once again they said, that they would not be able to do it then. I asked them why and they went into all of this mumble jumble tech information that clearly made no sence whatsoever since the guy contradicted himself at least 5 times throughout his ramble.

I then proceeded to ask him why I would want to pay comcast the extra $30 a month to receive only a handfull of HD stations, when I could just buy an antenna and receive them for free. The people seemed dumbounded and and said that once again, its not possible unless I spend hundreds on top of hundreds of dollars. Yah needless to say I walked out of their almost wanting to cancell my plan altogether. Argh, so aggitated.

I think you tried 3 non-amplified antennas and you finally got an amplified one.

The non-amplified is ok if you are within 15 miles tops from local broadcasters.
The amplified is great to up to 55 miles

You don't need an HDTV antenna to get HD stations. I get all the HD stations in my area with a regular antenna. I had to add a booster to get one or two of the channels clear. Go to antennaweb.org and make sure your antenna is pointed in the right direction.
