Obviously Sony's PS3 and the Blu Ray technology in general is the top of the line in video at present. This is why I am considering a PS3 to compliment my Sony SXRD. I am also considering using the PS3 to consolidate my A/V cabinet. That is where my question appeared. I will definetly be using the PS3 for Blu Ray, but should I use it as a SD DVD Player? The thing is, the SXRD tv will upconvert a SD digital signal using DRC technology. So, I want to know if the PS3 will get me a higher quality, crisper 480i signal over HDMI than another player, for example, the Oppo 970 HD (which would be playing at 480i over HDMI)?
I greatly appreciate all advice,

Thanks, Stefan

Read some reviews of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Almost every review I've read from people who own both say the Toshiba HD-DVD player is far better than the Sony Blu-Ray player. The Toshiba is also supposed to have the best upconversion of any player.
