I just purchased a new dvd rack and the only place I can fit it is right next to my subwoofer. I'm wondering if it is at all possible for the subwoofer to damage/erase the dvds. I don't think it can do anything to them, but I just want to make sure rather than risk it. Thanks for reading and any help you can provide...

No, DVDs [as well as CDs] are light-media; lasers are used in the creation and reading of whatever data happens to be on the disc.
Magnetic media such as VHS, your computers hardrive, floppy discs, etc are written to and read by using magnets, thus they can be degraded or completely erased when kept near a strong enough magnetic source.
As far as DVDs go, when not in use keep them in their storage cases or DVD/CD wallet to minimize the chances of them being scratched.

Thanks for the reply... I was fairly certain that dvds couldn't be erased by magnetic fields but just wanted to make sure rather than risk damage to my collection. Thanks alot for your help!
