Progressive Scan DVD for non-HDTV?

I have a Toshiba 32 inch flat screen TV with a component input, but it's not a HDTV. Should I still get a progressive scan DVD player? Will the picture be better than a non-progressive scan player with my TV? Thanks

You sure the Toshiba isn't HD?

I could be wrong, but I believe the only reason a mfg puts component inputs on a tv is if it's capable of producing a HD image.

But by all means go for it, component gives a much better picture quality than composite video inputs. And you'll be have a decent player for whenever you get an HD tv in the future.

No, component inputs on a TV mean nothing as to if it can display HD. And the Toshiba can only display 480i so a progressive player is not needed. However, they are cheap enough at this time to use one in the 480i setting in case you get an HDTV or even an EDTV in the future.

Agree with Micah. Documented NO difference but are cheap enough to get for future upgrages.
