The first 1000 units of the new VS-2000 Ultra have arrived! The new unit supports a beefer and newer design Processor from Conexant. The unit also sports a 4mb flash area, and 32 megs of RAM. A USB 2.0 compatible port is also included for flashing the unit from a USB jump drive, or displaying digital pictures on your tv, as well as for playing mp3's. Card reader is also included, tho X-Crypt is embedded. This newest entry from Viewsat has a nice new GUI and offers a 7 day EPG. The unit also has a 4 MEG tsop. I just received 1 to test and am excited about finally getting some competition for my VS Xtreme. I have a host of units atop my TV, but the Xtreme gets the most use. I think the switch to the newer chip is partly because of depleted stock of the older ones. Relax tho, Viewsat still has enough Conexant chips to continue to produce the Platinum & Xtreme for several more months. At approx. $200, the new unit is definitely a welcome addition to the VS line of stb's. There are some 45,000 total units landing here this month of their various models. It's clear to me, they are not worried about support thru any coming ECM's. Their scheduling of new models and units shows agressive marketting for N.A.

Viewsat Setup Guide.pdf (42.7 k)

NOTE: DO NOT HOOK A LOCAL CABLE COMPANY CABLE (or any cable other than from your switch or LNB) INTO THIS JACK... it will cause smoke to come out of components inside the ViewSat and will likely render it un-useable and likely void your WARRANTY!
