I have a LG tv with a dvi (no hdmi) connection and a new panasonic upconverting dvd player with a hdmi connection. when I connect the dvd player using a hmdi to dvi converter, the right side of the screen is cut off (about %5), even when the dvd screen saver is on it is not centered. The dvd player works fine using a S-connection cable, but it seems like you do not get the upconverting hd when you don't use the hdmi. Any help please

I have a more basic question on same topic. I work on a boat and want to buy a lcd monitor for my cabin that will act as computer screen and entertainment center. Can I connect any off the shelf DVD player with an hdmi ouput to the monitor's dvi input simply with a conversion cable? I'll use the vga connection for the computer, and handle the audio with the dvd's component rca's...any suggestions thanks.

To use this you need a compatible TV thats capable of accepting upscalled resolutions (i.e HD ready) with HDCP support via HDMI for it to work 100%
