Defective DVDs

I have a Panasonic DVD recorder, model dmr-e20. I bought some Memorex DVR-rams that come in a cartridge. I was unable to format 3 of them. Then I used a Comp USA DVD-ram in a cartridge. It worked okay at first. I recorded a few tracks and then I tried to delete one of them. It said this disk is write protected. I couldn't change disk protection. It said "this is a non recordable disk." I opened the tray, then closed it again. I tried it again and it worked as if nothing had happened. I suspect the cartridges aren't built right and they're interfearing with the function. Maybe if I take the disks out and put them in the machine by them self it will work. Before I do that, does anybody have any ideas?

I meant to type "3 Memorex DVD-rams that come in a cartridge."

I bought a lot of 6 Memorex 4.7GB Type 2's for my Panasonic DVD-RAM and all were bad. I was able to remove three of them and place them in a Panasonic or Imation cartridge and they worked (three did not). I have been buying Imation since then and have had no problems with their product.
