My apologies if this issue has been addressed. I searched previous posts and could not find a specific answer to my question. Here goes:

I want to convert VHS to DVD. I understand the basic methods. Which method do I use to obtain the best quality in my transferred video?

1) Use a converter and my VCR to get the video to my PC then burn the DVD

2) Purchase a VCR/DVD Recorder Combo

3) Other method

I know that the VCR/DVD Recorder would be easiest, but it would seem that the converter/PC method might offer filters, etc. that would improve the final product.

I am not interested in adding any chapters, subtitles, or other effects. My sole concern is how to get the best quality transfer from VHS to DVD.

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.

Actually, it's the standalones that have filters. If any of those tapes are copy protected, you'll need a seperate VHS and DVD and a stabilizer. I haven't done them on a PC, so I can't say if it's better or worse.
