Just curious, if someone wanted to modify a bin file, say to give a reciever blind scan capabilities, how would one go about it? What sort of program, training, etc. I would like to modify some receivers I own to do other functions and give them more capabilities. The programmable chip is not a limitation as it is from 4 meg to eight meg.
You'd need to know exactly how the Set-Top box works. You'd also need a few years of College or University training in computer electronics and computer engineering in how these things work. It's not something an average person can do, it's something you'd leave up to the professionals to do.
Many of the boxes use the same chip, a Conexant, the calls for which should be published somewhere. Just wondering, it isn't magic, although it is pretty close to rocket science. LOL
