Hi, I just hooked up a monstercable 2.4 ghz splitter so that I can watch and record two different shows, on one cable. I have read that it doesn't work, and durring the setup it gave me some sort of error but it seems to work ok. is this going to fry the splitter eventually? why did I read that it wouldn't work? I'm confused...
Most likley, you won't fry anything. And it should work with DTV if you have a round dish (one satellite, not multi-satellite), but with DISH or any multi-satellite dish systems, you will lose some stations. The problem is the splitter won't allow both receivers on the branch that is split to send a signal back up to the multi-sat dish (multi-switch) telling it which satellite to use. So, at best, both receivers will only get the stations from one satellite.
