What do you guys know about the StarCruiser 9000. the ease of installing the software, number of channels that can be received, reliability, etc. I'm currently evaluating if I should buy one.

Not a popular model.
That said, you might not be able to find much in the way of support.

This is the only thread I was able to find on it in the last 2 months. I'd go with something else if I was you.

Forget the rest...and do NOT buy a CLONE! (imitation)...and if its too cheap then its a clone!...$160 minimum

Burkan, I have a skycruiser 7000 and I have had a hard time finding out about it, I called their cust service and they discontinued it. LK is right i think it is a clone(cheap). I tried using skyfiles.ne*t and didn't work for me. In the end i flashed a digiwave bin into it and did a sat scan 110,119 and it worked missing some channels but I am still learning. Go with the known name and read up on it.

I was the one who did that post about the StarCruiser 9000 (https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-video/218440.html) and I paid a friend of a friend to come by and fix it for $25.00 this time. The next time it'll be $50.00 and he wont tell me where he gets his info. Well in two hours he came back with it all working; (hbo, show, ppv, xxx and so on) I mean everything. Next day I sold it and for got to get the boot file out of it before getting rid of it. I'll see him tomorrow and get the file out of it and post the link in here. All I can say is, upload it and sale it and go buy one with more support. If I can not do it myself. I dont want it. Now I have a Pansat 3500 and I'm doing the work myself. (sold the StarCruiser 9000 for $500.00, receiver, dish 500 and install) Wish you luck and check back....

I found this in googles. Try this firmware and if it dont work. I'll send you the one I have. I know mine works but this looks to be the lastest one. Plus, I wont have to post it. :-) Write back and tell me if it does not work.

Make sure you pick the right boot version (R3X or R3R) http://www.skyfiles.net/index.htm
