DVD player will not play DVD's anymore (Durabrand DCD2203)

Hey all,
So my mom bought this DVD/VCR combo not so long ago and it had been working great until today. My younger sis wanted to watch her 'Alice in Wonderland' DVD she got but it won't play. So I tried out some other dvd's including my own but I keep getting the same error msg:
Disc Error --please eject disc-- playback feature may not be avaliable on this disc
I'm gettting P.Oed at this point so I try an audio CD and it plays fine.
Has this happened to anyone else before?

This just started happening to mine...I tried running a disc cleaner, but it gave me the same error and wouldn't run it. Trying another approach, I took off the cover, and cleaned the lense with a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohal, as I've had success with this technique on my PS2. No luck...I don't know about your case, but in mine, I'm pretty sure it's not a dirty lense. Perhaps a loose wire...I'll post again if I manage to fix it.
