8 8 8 8 PROBLEM

This problem is created when the PC --> STB transfer cable is disconnected before the data transfer has completed or when the STB has been powered "OFF" before data transfer completion.

This problem "may" be fixed by a reload of a file; it's suggested using a factory software file. The data is transferred from the PC to the STB (PC --> STB) [See above procedure]

Upon successful STB data transfer AND a front panel display of "DONE" AND, finally, a front panel display of "0 0 0 0", THEN, you may turn the STB "OFF". Wait a few seconds (5 is recommended) and then turn the STB "ON". The "8 8 8 8" should be gone.

NOTE:
It is important to be aware that when data is sent from the PC to the STB, the STB takes a couple seconds to "process" the data. The "END" front panel display indicates the STB acknowledges an end to the data transfer to it.

After a few seconds to process the data, the front display then changes to:

"0 0 0 0"

indicating the STB has finished. The STB may reset after a data load. Once the front panel is all zeros, it is "OK" to turn the power "OFF".

Fixing Spanish Audio Problem

Open LOADER2

Click STB --> to --> PC

Data will automatically transfer from the STB and be stored as "chaninfo.cha"

Open CHANNEL MASTER

FILE--> IMPORT--> VIEWSAT CHA FORMAT --> Navigate to directory where the chaninfo.cha file is located and click on it. You can also import the satinfo.sat file, too, if desired.

RIGHT click on SATELLITES in LEFT window

LEFT click on BULK MODIFY CHANNELS

Check the lower right corner box identified as "AUDIO PID" and insure the value is set to "0"

FILE--> EXPORT--> VIEWSAT CHA FORMAT --> type in a "satinfo.sat" file NAME and a "chaninfo.cha" file NAME

OK

NOTE: Channel Master will export the CHA and SAT files using the name(s):
chaninfo.cha
satinfo.sat

It placed them in my LOADER2 diretory. If you have files by those names in that directory that are valuable, rename them BEFORE export your "new" Channel Master files.

Then, re-install the modified CHA and/or SAT file(s) in your STB

Once the new file(s) are transferred to STB, each channel will be without sound for a couple of seconds the first time you view that particular channel while the STB downloads audio data from the satellite.

No Sound on ViewSat STB problem
Barring a STB electrical problem, having no sound after giving the STB a few seconds to acquire audio typically means there is a problem with CHA and/or SAT files.

Use the "Spanish Audio" fix in the above post first to see if that rectifies the situation. This is make "English" the default language setting and the Dolby audio will still be active as noted by the "DD" in the screen's upper right corner.

How to Remember ?L? and ?R? to ?H? and ?V?

TP data--such as at Lyngsat--shows in the first column lists the TP frequency and the type of signal--?L? for LEFT and ?R? for RIGHT. When using the data in a channel list, we need to input ?H? for horizontal and ?V? for vertical. Examples of this data can be found for some providers here:

Nimiq 2 @82.0°W hxxp://www.lyngs*t.com/nimiq2.html
Nimiq 1/3 @91.0°W hxxp://www.lyngs*t.com/nimiq1.html

EchoStar 3 @61.5°W hxxp://www.lyngs*t.com/echo3.html
EchoStar 6/8 @110.0°W hxxp://www.lyngs*t.com/110west.html
EchoStar 7 @119.0°W hxxp://www.lyngs*t.com/echo7.html
EchoStar 1/2 @148.0°W hxxp://www.lyngs*t.com/148west.html

Clicking a link above will show transponder and other data. In the first column, labeled "Freq. Tp", you will find one of the following alphabetical designations:

"L" for left-handed polarization
"R" for right-handed polarization

But, when one wishes to use that data in a FTA STB, the input needs to be either ?H? or ?V?.

Quick ditty I use when working with the satellite info is:

L = H remembering Left Hand

R = V remembering Recreational Vehicle (RV)

Perhaps this will help you remember how to easily convert Lyngs*t data into satinfo data.

DishPRO LNBF?s are erroneously reported as not usable with FTA receivers because of an internal switch. This is not true. You can use them with no additional switch needed. The only time you will need to use an additional switch is when adding a second dish to your system.

Pro LNBF?s have a built in DISEQC switch--not a sw21 as the ?LEGACY TWIN? has. [NOTE: Can NOT use Legacy TWIN LNB?s] Identify PRO LNBF?s by a large black D/P label (Seehxxp://forums.al7b*r.tk/showthread.php?t=54166).

With a PRO LNBF, connect 1 cable from LNBF to the STB. Each output on this LNBF carries BOTH 110 and 119 signals. The different outs are for connecting additional IRDs.

With FTA, load a modified DishPRO channel list or modify your own list. To do this subtract all H transponders values from 25600. Enter the result as the new TP frequency and change to V (vertical). I.e. the 119 TP 6 is 12297h. Doing the subtraction, you get 13303 from 25600-12297. Just change TP 6 to 13303 and change from h(orizontal) to v(vertical).
Now you have 13303v which will be received by DishPRO LNBFs.

To get a bit technical, the DishPRO?s use an ossicilator that runs at 25600mhz. This is mixed with the horizontal TP frequencies generating NEW TP frequencies.

If you wish to add a third and a fourth dish, you must add a external 4x1 DiSEqC switch. You must feed both Port 1 and Port 2 with both (or in case of quad,2 )outputs. You can then add a third dish to Port 3 and a fourth to Port 4. (Thanks to AC Radio for the switch info) I hope this clears up the confusion.

"Knight Rider" or "flashing bars" Solution

The problem with the front panel display flashing straight bars is also

known as the "Knight Rider" (from the old TV show) has several causes:
turning the STB "OFF" during/after a data transfer before the front panel

says "0 0 0 0"

for whatever reason a bad or corrupted flash

for whatever reason a bad or corrupted channel list

How To Fix:

Get a factory *.pgm file and transfer this data from the PC --> STB using

the standard Loader2 procedure. Once the STB front panel goes to "0 0 0

0", you may turn "OFF" the STB.

Using Loader2, again, find the current V*.pgm file (currently V69.pgm as

of 10-06-05) using the standard Loader 2 procedure. Once the STB front

panel goes to "0 0 0 0", it may reboot or you may turn "Off" the STB.

If you have a special "satinfo.sat" satellite file, use Loader2 and the

standard data transfer procedure to transfer that data from PC --> STB.

STB should now be back in good working condition.

If not, you've lost nothing by trying and should try this multiple times before giving up. If you still have the Knight Rider bars, you will likely require factory service
